The device (DS) has control units (MC) for activating temporary inhibition of acceleration command (CA) of a motor vehicle (V) to prevent inducing of acceleration of the vehicle in presence of an alarm signaling a collision risk of the vehicle with an obstacle (V') e.g. animal, located near to the vehicle. The control units maintain the inhibition of the acceleration command when the alarm is present. The control units stop the inhibition in case of solicitation interruption of the acceleration command and/or solicitation interruption of a brake control by a user of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for securing driving of a motor vehicle. Un dispositif (DS) est destiné à sécuriser la conduite d'un véhicule à moteur (V) dont l'accélération est contrôlée par une commande d'accélération (CA). Ce dispositif (DS) comprend des moyens de contrôle (MC) chargés de déclencher une inhibition au moins temporaire de la commande d'accélération (CA), destinée à l'empêcher d'induire une accélération du véhicule (V), en présence d'une alarme signalant un risque de collision du véhicule (V) avec un obstacle (V') situé dans son voisinage.
