Process for culturing heterotrophic microalgae, comprises: preparing an inoculum by culturing at least one strain of heterotrophic microalgae in heterotrophic culture conditions; inoculating the culture medium in a photobioreactor with the inoculum; and culturing microalgae in the photobioreactor, in autotrophic (preferred) or mixotrophic culture conditions. An independent claim is included for a process for obtaining biomass of a heterotrophic microalgae comprising culturing the heterotrophic microalgae, where the process further comprises collecting biomass of the heterotrophic microalgae obtained from the culture according to the culturing of the microalgae. La présente invention a pour objet un nouveau procédé de culture d'une microalgue hétérotrophe comprenant la préparation d'un inoculum par la mise en culture d'une microalgue hétérotrophe en conditions de culture hétérotrophe puis l'inoculation d'un milieu de culture dans un photobioréacteur et la mise en culture en conditions de culture autotrophe, et un procédé destiné à l'obtention de biomasse d'une microalgue hétérotrophe.
