The instrument (Inst) has a pusher (40) that translates an intervertebral cage (C-i). A unit (43) guides the cage during its displacement in translation. The unit (43) has a sleeve (50) whose inner section is determined such that two elementary cages (11, 12) are translated by being aligned straight (D-i), under the action of force exerted on the cage by using the pusher. The unit (43) has an elastic plate (60) with a preformed curved end (61) having a concave shape and a control unit (62) controlling passage of the plate between entry and exit positions. La présente invention concerne les cages intersomatiques aptes à être intercalées entre deux vertèbres consécutives, ainsi que les instruments pour les implanter.La cage intersomatique selon l'invention est essentiellement caractérisée par le fait qu'elle comporte au moins deux cages élémentaires 11, 12 et des moyens de pivotement 14 entre ces cages élémentaires 11, 12 de façon qu'elles soient aptes à prendre différentes positions angulaires l'une par rapport à l'autre.L'instrument Inst selon l'invention est essentiellement caractérisé par le fait qu'il comporte un poussoir 40 apte à translater la cage intersomatique Ci et des moyens 43 pour guider la cage intersomatique Ci lors de son déplacement en translation.
