Process for removing iron from red mud and bauxite, preparation of a starting material for the alumina industry and of iron pentacarbonyl
Process for removing iron from red muds and bauxite. The process comprises: a. The activation of the starting red mud or bauxite at 150-800 DEG C at a pressure of 0.1 to 100 bar in a reducing gaseous stream, in the presence of one or more activators, and then, b. The carbonylation at 50-300 DEG C at...

Summary: | Process for removing iron from red muds and bauxite. The process comprises: a. The activation of the starting red mud or bauxite at 150-800 DEG C at a pressure of 0.1 to 100 bar in a reducing gaseous stream, in the presence of one or more activators, and then, b. The carbonylation at 50-300 DEG C at a pressure of 25-300 bar, with carbon monoxide or a gas containing carbon monoxide, and the removal from the system of the iron pentacarbonyl thus formed. Use for removing iron from a red mud.
