Summary:Process for heat treatment of fine ceramic articles such as cups is claimed in which the articles are carried on a moving belt permeable to air continuously from a pre-dryer and are heated rapidly at 80-90 deg.C by a drying fluid at 160-200 deg.C by means of nozzles and aspiration openings, arranged successively above and below the belt in a drying zone (I) then, by injection of a volume regulatable controlled temp. flow of outside air by means of a series of nozzles, the temp. is lowered in a zone (II) by 50-80 K. The articles are thus dried to a residual moisture content of 1%. Articles are passed into a post-drier when they are exposed in zone III to a flow of fresh air controlled by volume, drawn from zone (II) and hot air from zone (IV). On passing through zone (IV), chemically bound water is removed using an air current moving between jets and outlets with a heating rate of 25 K/min. and temps. of 58-620 deg.C. Finally in zone V of the post dryer the articles are cooled using an exterior air to an ambient temp. 40-50 deg.C supplied by jets.
