Summary: | Box covers filled with wadding and having a quilted appearance are made by lining the covers with intersecting arrays of strips of low m.pt. thermoplastic material and subsequently fusing the tapes at the intersections to bond to each other and to the adjacent covers. Used instead of stitching to contain internal fibrous wadding within local pockets without producing holes in the covers through which individual fibres may subsequently escape. Typically the tapes are of olefin, vinyl chloride, or vinyl acetate polymers or copolymers, of lower m.pt. than the material used for the covers, 1.5-4 cm wide and 0.05-0.2mm thick.
