Abstract | Process comprises adding a flocculant to the water which is then pumped through a filter bed to trap the flakes etc. Periodic compressed air turbulence and rinsing are used to regenerate the filter bed. The filter bed is composed of elastically-deformable particles through which rising water is filtered. The degree of filtration is adjusted by regulationg the speed of flow of water into the filter bed. This alters the compression exerted upon the elastically deformable particles and hence the pore size of the bed. The pollution of the prefiltrate and/or the purity of the filtrate are pref. monitored intermittently or continuously by automatic equipment. Regeneration of the filter bed comprises using unfiltered water from the filter chamber assisted by agitation of the bed particles with compressed air. Used for filtration of polluted water, esp. oil-polluted water, to give a standard of purity suitable for drinking.
L'invention vise un procédé et une installation pour l'épuration des eaux usées, notamment contenant des substances en suspension et en émulsion. Selon ce procédé on place une masse filtrante composée de grains élastiques dans une enceinte de filtrage et de l'eau brute à épurer est envoyée à travers cette masse filtrante de bas en haut à une vitesse assurant le degré d'épuration requis, tandis que la régénération de la masse filtrante s'effectue par écoulement de l'eau brute à travers la masse filtrante de haut en bas. L'enceinte d'épuration 4, 6, 8 de l'installation est divisée, par des plaques de filtrage 5a, 5b montées à demeure, en une enceinte inférieure de réaction 4, une enceinte médiane de filtrage 6 et une enceinte supérieure d'eau 8. L'admission de l'eau brute 22, l'alimentation des produits chimiques de floculation 25 et l'évacuation de l'eau boueuse rinçant les substances polluantes 22 se font du réservoir 33 tandis que l'évacuation de l'eau épurée s'effectue par le sommet du réservoir. La masse filtrante 7 qui est placée dans l'enceinte de filtrage se compose, avantageusement, de matériau au grand coefficient de cavité, souple et mousse. |
