Abstract A method for detecting a discrete, transmissible, mammalian gene associated with tumor metastasis. Using the method, a gene associated with metastasis and originating in the human cervical carcinoma line ME-180, metastatic to omentum, and a gene associated with metastasis and originating in the human neuroblastoma cell line SK-N-MC, metastatic to the supraorbital area, have been detected and identified.
