Summary:The object of the invention is an air dryer in the dryer section of a paper machine, which dryer comprises at least one exhaust air chamber (6, 14) arranged on a first side of the paper web (2) and at least one nozzle box (4, 15a-15e, 17a-17c) arranged inside said exhaust air chamber (6, 14), into which nozzle box (4, 15a­15e, 17a-17c) one or more blowing elements (26) have been arranged in order to blow hot air to the paper web (2), into which exhaust air chamber (6, 14) at least one air exhaust element has been arranged, and in the central area between the forward end and the tail end of said air dryer (1), in the machine direction, the paper web (2) has been arranged to travel without support elements arranged on a second side of the web. An air dryer according to the invention is characterized in that the location of said nozzle box (4, 15a-15e, 17a-17c) and/or said one or more blowing elements (26) with regard to the paper web (2) has been arranged so as to be changeable with the aid of an adjusting element. The object of the invention is also a method in drying a paper web.
