Abstract Un método para el manejo continuo de un elastómero granular o en grumos producido en una polimerización en fase gaseosa, el cual método comprende (1) alimentar un elastómero en forma de grumos o un elastómero granular, que contiene opcionalmente finos, junto con, opcionalmente, uno o más materiales de carga, a una mezcladora/extrusora donde es masticado y fundido en un compuesto; (2) bombear el compuesto a través de un orificio de la mezcladora/extrusora ; y (3) cortar y conformar el compuesto en pelets conformados que varían de tamaño desde 0, 5 hasta 30 mm. There is provided a method which reduces fines while maintaining the bulk handling advantages of granular or particulate elastomers such as those produced in gas phase processes and which affords continuous bulk handling of synthetic rubbers or elastomers such as those produced in solution and/or suspension processes. The method comprises (1) feeding an crumb form elastomer or a granular elastomer which contains fines along with optionally one or more filler materials to a mixer/extruder where it is masticated and melted into a compound; (2) pumping the compound through an orifice of the mixer/extruder, and (3) cutting and forming the compound into shaped pellets ranging in size from about 0.5 to 30 mm.
