Summary:The invention relates to nucleic acid detection, and particularly, although not exclusively, to rapid, one-pot, single-step methods and associated kits for amplifying and detecting target nucleic acid sequences in a sample obtained from a subject. The methods and kits can be used to detect pathogenic nucleic acid sequences in a sample, such as a blood or saliva sample, via the selective amplification of the target nucleic acids, to provide a point of care diagnosis for infectious diseases, or other RNA-related diseases, such as cancer.
