Summary: | A silicone hydrogel contact lens having antioxidant properties is described as well as uses of the same. The contact lens can be present in a sealed contact lens package. The contact lens comprises a silicone hydrogel material formed by curing a polymerizable composition comprising a siloxane monomer and a hydrophilic vinyl monomer and comprises an amount of vitamin E effective to provide a lipid peroxidation. The contact lens has both an ophthalmically-acceptable surface wettability in the absence of a post curing surface treatment and an advancing contact angle that is no more than 10° greater than a control lens that lacks vitamin E. |
