Abstract | A rubber composition for use or incorporation in an engineered article is disclosed. The composition comprises, based on 100 parts by weight (phr) elastomer: 100 phr of an elastomer comprising at least ethylene-propylene-diene copolymer (EPDM), the EPDM having a diene content being greater than 5%; and from 5 phr to 100 phr of a reinforcing filler comprising hydrophobated silica. Also, a further rubber composition is disclosed comprising, based on 100 parts by weight (phr) elastomer: from 50 to 100 phr or from 20 to 50 phr of an elastomer comprising at least ethylene-propylene-diene copolymer (EPDM), the EPDM having a diene content being greater than 5% and containing at least one or more or all of (i) branching, (ii) a Mooney Viscosity greater than 80 MU, and (iii) an ethylene content less than 60%; from 0 to 50 phr or from 5 phr to 50 phr or from 50 to 80 phr of at least one conjugated diene-based elastomer; from 5 phr to 100 phr of a reinforcing filler, preferably a hydrophobated silica; and optionally up to 40 phr or from 5 to 40 phr of a resin, preferably a hydrocarbon resin having a Tg greater than 20 °C. |
