The invention relates to an adhesive composition for the manufacture of a wood laminate comprising two or more wood layers alternating with one or more adhesive layers, wherein the adhesive composition comprises an phenol formaldehyde adhesive resin solution in water and a particulate filler comprising a non-swellable phyllosilicate, the particulate filler having an average grain size d50 ranging between 1 and 20 µm, the adhesive composition comprising an amount of between 20 and 90 wt.% of the particulate filler relative to the total dry solids weight of the particulate filler and the adhesive resin. The invention also relates to a process for the manufacture of the adhesive composition and of the wood laminates, to wood laminates and the use thereof for the manufacture of articles for outdoor use.
