Abstract The present disclosure provides a target object detection device and a target object detection method capable of promptly detecting a target object with a simple configuration. A target object detection device 1 includes a first transmission signal generating module 111 configured to generate a first transmission signal, a first transmission array 11 including a plurality of first transmission elements 11a configured to convert the first transmission signal into a transmission wave, a first signal switching part 113 configured to supply the first transmission signal to one of the first transmission elements 11a in the first transmission array 11, and a control part 101 configured to control the first signal switching part 113 to switch the first transmission element 11a to which the first transmission signal is supplied from a first element to a second element at a first timing.
