Abstract An optical fiber with reduced signal losses when flexed includes a core layer, a cladding layer wrapping the core layer, and a coating layer. The cladding layer includes an inner cladding layer, a first depressed layer, a second depressed layer, and an outer cladding layer that are sequentially wrapped inside to outside. A single side width of the first depressed layer is greater than a single side width of the second depressed layer, a relative refractive index of the first depressed layer is from -0.03% to -0.06%, and a relative refractive index of the second depressed layer is from -0.08% to -0.15%. First and second coating layers are applied on the outer cladding layer, a diameter of the second coating layer is 175µm~195µm. A method for preparing such optical fiber is also disclosed.
