Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Verarbeitung eines Gemisches aus rezykliertem Polyestermaterial und einem Polyester-Prepolymer aus einem Polyester-Herstellprozess, wobei ein rezykliertes Polyestermaterials mit einem Polyester-Prepolymer aus einem Polyester-Herstellprozess vermischt und in einem Reaktor (7) zur thermischen Behandlung von Schüttgütern mit einem Prozessgases im Gegenstrom oder Kreuzstrom zur Flussrichtung des Gemisches behandelt wird. Das Prozessgas wird hierbei vor Eintritt in einen Katalysatorbehälter (14) durch ein Schutzbett (11) mit einem festen Adsorptionsmaterial geleitet, das hochsiedende organische Substanzen oder organische Substanzen mit hoher Verbrennungstemperatur aus dem Prozessgasstrom entfernt.
