Summary: | Some unidirectional (UD) tapes (10a) include a matrix material and fibers that are dispersed within the matrix material, the fibers including fibers (14a) of a first type and fibers (14b) of a second type that is distinct from the first type, wherein the fibers are positioned such that a cross-section of the tape, taken perpendicularly to the length of the tape, includes one or more first fiber regions (26) in which at least 90% of the fibers are of the first type and one or more second fiber regions (30a, 30b) in which at least 90% of the fibers are of the second type, wherein each of the fiber regions has a width that is greater than or equal to 3 millimeters (mm), and wherein the width of at least one of the first fiber region(s) is at least 2 times larger than the width of at least one of the second fiber region(s). |
