Abstract One embodiment of the present invention is an electrode for an energy storage device including a conductive substrate, an intermediate layer, and an active material layer in this order. In the electrode, the intermediate layer includes a conductive agent, a compound decomposed at 100°C or higher to generate a gas, and a binder, and the content of the compound with respect to the content of the conductive agent in the intermediate layer is 2 times or more and 20 times or less by mass ratio.
