Abstract The invention relates to a non-transitory computer readable storage medium with program instructions that, when executed by a controller, cause the controller to perform a method of operating a respiratory treatment apparatus, the method comprising: controlling generation, by a pressure generator of the respiratory treatment apparatus, of a flow of air so as to provide ventilatory support to a patient; and adjusting a servo-control gain for the ventilatory support based on a difference between an estimated inspiratory volume and an estimated expiratory volume of a breath of the patient, upon detection of a sudden leak in the respiratory treatment apparatus.
