Abstract | The present invention relates to a method for evaluating signals from at least one vibration sensor, wherein the at least one vibration sensor is operatively connected to a rail track. The signals of the at least one vibration sensor are fed to an evaluating unit, the signal of the at least one vibration sensor being evaluated in the evaluating unit with respect to the power density spectrum. This can be carried out by evaluating the width and/or the temporal modification of the width of a frequency band about one or more characteristic frequencies such that a minimum value of the power density is produced for the frequencies in the respective frequency band. Therefore, the distance of the train with respect to the position of the vibration sensor and/or the traveling speed of the train can be derived therefrom. Alternatively, this can be carried out by evaluating the signal power and/or the temporal change in the signal power for one or more characteristic frequencies and/or in respectively one frequency range about said characteristic frequencies, in order to derive the expected arrival time of the train on the position of the vibration sensor and/or the amount of time which has lapsed since the train passed the position of the vibration sensor and/or the traveling speed of the train. Instead of the frequency range, the signal power in the frequency range previously determined can be evaluated. |
