Abstract An aluminum alloy for the manufacture of semi-finished products or components of motor vehicles, a method for the manufacture of a strip made of an aluminum alloy according to the invention, a corresponding aluminum alloy strip or sheet as well as a structural component of a motor vehicle consisting of an aluminum alloy sheet which includes the following alloy components in % by weight: 0.6%≤Si≤0.9%, 0.6%≤Fe≤1.0%, Cu≤0.1%, 0.6%≤Mn≤0.9%, 0.5%≤Mg≤0.8%, Cr≤0.05%, the remainder Al and impurities, individually up to a maximum of 0.05% by weight, in total up to a maximum of 0.15% by weight.
