Abstract A method for correcting position data recorded using a position sensor (34), which uses a global navigation satellite system, of a motor vehicle (23, 31), wherein the mechanical interaction of the motor vehicle (23, 31) with ground structures as it travels over the ground structures are measured by means of a structure sensor (32), and evaluation of the measurement data from the structure sensor (32) detects travel over at least one reference structure (6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 21) for which the precise reference position in the geodetic coordinate system of the global navigation satellite system in at least one direction is known, wherein a discrepancy between the position data measured using the position sensor (34) at the instant of travel over the ground structure and the reference position is used to ascertain correction data that can be used for correction.
