Summary:The invention relates to a security element for a data storage device, in particular a value document, comprising a data storage substrate, the front side of which has first motive elements and second motive elements, wherein: the first motive elements, under first viewing conditions, show a darker color than the second motive elements, such that the viewer perceives the first and second motive elements in the form of a light-dark-contrast designated as first motive; the first motive elements and the second motive elements, under second viewing conditions, show an essentially uniform, visible color and form a second motive; the first motive elements, under third viewing conditions, show a lighter color than the second motive elements, such that the viewer perceives the first and second motive elements in the form of a light-dark contrast designated as third motive, in comparison with the light-dark contrast of the first motive inverted light-dark contrast; wherein the first motive and the third motive evoke in the viewer the impression of a moving image when there is an oscillating change between the first and the third viewing conditions, and the first, second and third viewing conditions are defined as follows: first viewing conditions: viewing when by means of with visible light; second viewing conditions; viewing when lit by means of a combination of visible light and ultraviolet light in essentially equal parts; third viewing conditions: viewing when lit by means of ultraviolet light.
