The exhaust closure system comprises an elongated slider (12) movable along its longitudinal axis. The slider (12) is provided for a horizontal arrangement within the plane above the vapour pipe (10). The exhaust closure system comprises an cover element (12; 22) for covering the vapour pipe (10). The exhaust closure system comprises a driving device (16) for moving the slider (12). The cover element (12; 22) is a horizontal sheet element and moveable within a horizontal plane for opening and closing the vapour pipe (10). Further, the present invention relates to a cooking oven comprising an exhaust closure system.
