A method of authorizing a payment via a mobile device comprising the steps of: - detecting (2002) an merchant code identifying an merchant (1) and a product code identifying a product or service; - transmitting (2006) the merchant code and the product code to a management system (4) that handles payments between a plurality of operators and a plurality of users; - receiving (2008) from the management system (4) information that permits to verify whether the merchant (1) is trustworthy and whether the product or service is salable, in which the information includes: a) in the case wherein the merchant (1) is trustworthy, an electronic address and/or a telephone number of the merchant, and b) in the case wherein the product or service is salable, descriptive and configuration information of the product or service; and - verifying (2010) whether the merchant (1) is trustworthy and whether the product or service is salable, and if the merchant (1) is trustworthy and the product or service is salable: a) displaying (2012) a screen as a function of the information on the product or service, b) verifying (2014) if a user authorizes payment, and c) in the case wherein the user authorizes the payment, transmitting (2016) to the electronic address or telephone number of the merchant (1) a message authorizing payment.
