(a) a tension member for providing lifting force to a car, the tension member, being in engagement with a rotatable traction sheave;
(b) wherein the tension member includes a plurality of spaced metallic load carrying cords within a coating layer formed from a non-metallic material;
(c) wherein the tension member has a ratio of width w relative to thickness t, greater than 1; and
(d) wherein the cords each are formed of metallic strands in such a manner that the coating layer fills spaces between adjacent strands. |
