Abstract The node (1) has a local radio terminal (4) implementing an orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) multiplexing method to establish a point to multipoint type bidirectional radio connection (2) with a base station. A switch is enabled for data transfer between the terminal and a local base station (3) that emits a beacon signal. The terminal has a beacon signal detecting unit that detects another base station adjacent to the terminal. Node controlling units control the connection for inhibiting establishment of redundant connections involving the terminal and the station (3). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for managing a radio connection in a radio telecommunications network (2) a method for configuring a telecommunications node.
