Summary:A ligating band dispenser, comprising a first member having a surface to support one or more ligating bands; and a second member having a fixed surface, extending at least partially about the first member and being movable relative to the first member to effect a displacement in a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the first member, having at least one capturing element to selectively engage and move only a distal-most ligating band to a release position, wherein the at least one capturing element includes at least one inwardly-biased member having a contact surface, and wherein a length between the fixed surface and the contact surface of the at least one inwardly-biased member is substantially equal to a band thickness of the distal-most ligating band.
