Abstract A front plane laminate (200) useful in the manufacture of electro-optic displays and comprising, in order, a light-transmissive electrically-conductive layer (14), a layer (16) of an electro-optic medium in electrical contact with the electrically-conductive layer (14), an adhesive layer (26) and a release sheet (28). A connection area (202) is formed wherein the electrically-conductive layer (14) is exposed free from the electro-optic medium (16) and the adhesive layer (26). This void connection area (202) is intended to be filled with a conductive via (204) serving to electrically connect the electrically-conductive layer (14) of the front plane laminate to a respective contact pad on a backplane to which the front plane laminate (200) will be adhered via the adhesive layer (26).
