The invention relates to a method for the pneumatic transport of bulk goods, in particular, of plastic granulates through a transport conduit (2). According to said method, the bulk goods (6) are fed into a modifiable propulsion gas stream from at least one deposition location (1) using a sluice member (4) and are transported as discrete plugs (6) of bulk goods which are separated at intervals by cushions (5) of propulsion gas, from the deposition location (1) to at least one destination location (3). An initial speed vA soll is predetermined for the propulsion gas in the transport conduit (2) in the vicinity of the deposition (9) of the bulk goods, which allows stable transport conditions to be set for all the products to be transported. At least one characteristic quantity is measured which is used to directly or indirectly determine the initial speed vA ist and the supplied quantity of pure gas VR is modified, in such a way that the predetermined value of the initial speed vA soll essentially corresponds to the actual value of the initial speed vA ist. The invention also relates to a device which is suitable for carrying out said method.
