Summary:A coating material for forming an information display surface of the present invention contains a water absorbent substance and a water-soluble substance. The water absorbent substance is protein such as collagen or polysaccharide such as cellulose. A display medium has a base material for display made of polyolefin type resin and the like on which the information display surface made of the coating material is formed. Another coating material for forming the information display surface contains an ultraviolet curable resin and a natural organic substance as major components. The natural organic substance is collagen, wool, keratin and so on.
