Abstract A vacuum interface valve for use in a vacuum sewerage system in which sewage is transported under the influence of vacuum to a wastewater treatment station or a public main sewer. The vacuum interface valve comprises a casing (1) having an inlet (2), an outlet (3) and a valve seat (4), a valve member (5) being linearly movable between a position engageable with the valve seat (4) and a position away from the valve seat (4), means for urging the valve member to cause the valve member (5) to engage the valve seat (4), and means for lifting the valve member (5) under the action of vacuum to cause the valve member (5) to disengage the valve seat (4). The inner wall of the casing is bulged outwardly from the vicinity of the valve seat (4) in a direction substantially perpendicular to an axis (x) of said valve member (5), wide space is defined in the vicinity of the valve seat (4) in the casing (1) so that foreign matters are not caught between the inner wall of the casing and the valve member (5).
