Summary:At the location in a colour channel (2) at which a colour signal (Fe) is transmitted and a colour interference area forming a colour fringe with wrong colours exists at colour discontinuities, the colour channel (2) is split into a delayed channel section (10) and an undelayed channel section (11) and the outputs of these channel sections are connected via a channel switch (12) to the output (3) or to the continuation of the colour channel. The delayed channel section contains a delay line (13) having a delay time (TK) which is greater than the width of the colour interference locations in time. At a colour interference area detected by a colour discontinuity detector (15), the channel switch is switched over during a predetermined switching time (TS) in such a manner that it transmits, instead of the disturbed area of the delayed colour signal in the delayed channel section of the colour channel, an undisturbed area of the undelayed colour signal from the undelayed channel section. In the case of an additional luminance discontinuity, a luminance discontinuity detector (22) controls the control circuit for the channel switch (12) instead of the colour discontinuity detector. This reestablishes undisturbed colour discontinuities in the transmitted colour signal.
