Abstract A process for preparing perfluoroalkoxysulphonic compounds having formula: wherein Rf represents a perfluoroalkyl or perfluoroethereal group, X represents F, OH or OM, in which M is an alkaline cation, an alkaline-earth cation, or X represents NR1R2, in which R1 and R2, independently of each other, represent H or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms and p is a number selected from 1 to 2, characterized in that the perfluoro vinyl sulphonyl fluoride of formula (11) CF2 = CF-SO2F is reacted with a hypofluorite of formula (III): wherein Rf is the same as defined above, and r represents 1 or 2, optionally in an inert solvent, at a temperature approximately ranging from -140 DEG C to +40 DEG C, and in that, if so desired, the compound of formula (1) so obtained in which X=F is used to produce the corresoonding derivatives, in which X has the other meanings defined above, by means of conventional techniques. A few subclasses of compounds (I) are new per se. The derivatives may be utilized as polymerization catalysts, surfactants and electrolytes in electric generators.
