Abstract A speed detection apparatus provided with a rotor magnet (11,12,13) that has many magnetic coil portions formed in the direction of its circumference, and a coil pattern for signal detection that rotationally displaces relative to an opposing said rotor magnet (11,12,13). The rotor magnet (11,12,13) has a first magnetized portion (5) for detection of a rotation phase of the rotor and formed in one portion of a specific position and a second magnetized portion (8,9,10) for detection of a rotation speed of the rotor magnet (11,12,13) and provided at a portion other than the first magnetized portion (14,15,16) and a non-magnetized portion having a crescent shape and provided at a specific position of the rotor magnet (11,12,13) magnet and that is symmetrical from a center of rotation of the rotor magnet (11,12,13), with respect to the first magnetized portion (5).
