Abstract The invention concerns novel anhydrous surfactant mixtures containing: (a) fatty alcohol sulphates with 16 to 18 carbon atoms; and (b) fatty alcohol sulphates with 12 to 14 carbon atoms, in weight ratios ranging from 70 : 30 to 90 : 10. The mixtures are distinguished in that, whilst having exceptional detergent properties, their irritation potential is synergistically reduced.
