Summary:The heating of tricklable material, in particular the heating of petrol coke to produce electrodes for the aluminium industry, requires special measures if the material is not to come into contact with the corresponding heat transfer medium. For example, the heating of petrol coke for producing electrodes for the aluminium industry takes place in mixing screws through which a heat transfer oil flows. In respect of the throughput quantity and the space requirement, these mixing screws are inflexible and furthermore require special sealing devices for supplying and removing the heat transfer oil. According to the invention, however, these disadvantages are eliminated due to the fact that the heating device (1) consists of a plurality of parallel tubes (3) which are arranged vertically in a housing (2) with a slight spacing from one another, are flowed around by a heat transfer medium (6), whose cross-section widens conically from the top to the bottom, and which are connected at their upper end to a delivery device (13), in particular a distributing screw, and at their lower end to a discharge device (16), in particular star wheels, for the heated material (12').
