Summary: | The pressurised extinguisher is esp. for use against filters used in mining and tunnelling operations. The container (5) is filled with the extinguishing medium connected directly to a pressurising type ventilator fan system (3) or alternatively to a compressed air container flask (8). The fire extinguishing medium is released within a fraction of a second by the burning through or melting of a soft metal closure of a contact. Alternatively, the extinguisher jets (4) can be made operative by temp. monitors. By spraying the whole filter (2) a fire-blocking sheet is formed preventing the fire-bearing gas stream (1) from spreading. |
