Summary:Hydraulic jet propulsion apparatus for water borne craft and having a variable area discharge nozzle. The nozzle is reversed under power by having a laterally movable reversing portion which can be easily moved in a transverse direction to thereby vary the reverse thrust with good control. The apparatus also includes an improved bearing for the main drive shaft by means of which shrouds or outer sleeves have been eliminated from the water intake thereby increasing the in-flow with less turbulence.
