Self adhesive protective paper/film for articles e.g. plate glass, polished plates, noble metal films, plastic sheets or veneers, consists of a flat support material coated on one both sides with an adhesive layer applied from an aqs. dispersion contg. an opt. chlorinated copolymer of 25-70 wt.% of >=1 vinyl cpd. e.g. vinyl chloride or acetate, and 30-75 wt.% of >=1 alkyl (meth) acrylate. Good initial adhesion to surfaces, and good permanent adhesion. Good resistance to heat, light and moisture. Can be removed from a surface without leaving residues.
