Summary:1,225,740. Printing apparatus; damping apparatus. ADAMOVSKE STROJIRNY, NARODNI PODNIK. 30 June, 1969 [1 July, 1968], No. 32887/69. Heading B6C. The time of dwell of a messenger roller on the ductor roller of an offset damping system, is adjustable by means of stops which may be moved relative to a lever which moves with a cam follower through which the messenger roller is activated from a cam drive. In the apparatus shown the ductor roller 1 is driven from a driving gear-wheel 4 (not shown). A freely rotatably mounted cam 6 driven from a toothed wheel 7 has a different speed of rotation with respect to the ductor roller 1. Rocking motion of a two-armed lever 18 is transmitted through an adjusting screw 17 and lever 16 to the shaft 8 which is thereby turned. This motion is subsequently transmitted by stops 9 and set screws 10 to the brackets 11 which cause a removal of the messenger roller 12 from the roller 1 and the contact with the distributer roller 28. The change of amount of supplied dampening liquid is accomplished by adjustment of the width of the film of the dampening liquid from the ductor rollers 1. The width of the strip of the transferred film is determined by the duration of contacting movement of the roller 1 with the surface of the roller 12. In the position of Fig. 1 a narrow strip of dampening film is transferred the cam 6 being in its lowest position with respect to the roller 19. In the course of rotation of the cam 6, the two-armed lever 18 rocks and as its other extremity bears against the adjusting screw 17 (position I), and an immediate removal of the messenger roller 12 from the ductor roller 1 and pressing against the roller 28 is accomplished. If a larger amount of liquid is required the screw 17 is released to allow a clearance between the screw and the lower extremity of lever 18. Within this clearance the lever 18 oscillates freely until it bears against the screw 17. The roller 12 is for this period pressed against the roller 1 and the transferred strip of the film of dampening liquid is widened. In the case of complete retraction of the screw 17 to position II the maximum width of the film of transferred dampening liquid is obtained (Fig. 1).
