Summary:A method is given for presenting graphical display views in an operating environment of a process plant using multiple graphical display themes. The method involves receiving, at a user interface device included in the operating environment of the process plant, an instance of a graphical display theme object indicating a plurality of graphical display themes in which a graphical display view is able to be presented at the user interface device 602. The method also includes executing a graphical display view which references the theme 605. The display view may also reference a project standard object, and the appearance of the display view may have visual aspects including colour, line width or font size. Users may be able to select a display these on their user interface device without the need to further communicate with a central controller. The display theme may be automatically selected or swapped depending upon a reading from a sensor disposed within the operating plant.
