Abstract | The turbocharger (10) has an energy transformer connected between an exhaust gas stream (11) and a fresh air stream (12) of an internal combustion engine and transfers the flow of energy from the exhaust stream to the fresh stream. An electric machine (4) is attached to the exhaust stream and generates electric energy, and another electric machine (3) supplies the energy to the fresh stream. An exhaust gas turbine (1) is connected to the exhaust stream and driven by a rotor (5) of the electric machine, and a compressor (2) is driven by another rotor (6).
