Abstract The method involves detecting solenoid valve-voltage characteristic, and comparing the detected solenoid valve-voltage characteristic with a reference voltage characteristic. The reference voltage characteristic is provided as simulation voltage characteristic by a solenoid valve simulation circuit that imitates a reference measurement voltage characteristic. The simulation voltage characteristic is assigned to the reference measurement voltage characteristic, where the simulation circuit is designed as a resistor capacitor (RC) element (130) with a capacitor (C11) and resistors (R11, R12). An independent claim is also included for a device for determining a switch-off time of a single solenoid valve. Bei einem Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Ausschaltzeitpunkts eines Magnetventils, insbesondere eines Magnetventils einer Einspritzeinrichtung einer Common Rail-Dieselbrennkraftmaschine, bei dem ein Magnetventil-Spannungsverlauf (331) erfasst und mit einem Referenz-Spannungsverlauf verglichen wird, wird vorgeschlagen, den Referenz-Spannungsverlauf als Simulations-Spannungsverlauf (333) durch eine das Magnetventil nachbildende Magnetventil-Simulationsschaltung (130) bereitzustellen.
