Abstract The method involves determining a components-air mass flow (m1) by a component (6) i.e. compressor, according to component function. Valve-air mass flow (m2) is detected by a control valve (8) depending on the components-air mass flow and by the formation of air mass flow balance. Information about the position of the control valve is provided and verified depending on the valve-air mass flow. The components-air mass flow corresponding to the component function is determined depending on a condition and/or parameter. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for plausibility-verifying a position of a control valve in a recirculation duct at a compressor in an air system of an internal combustion engine, comprising a sensor (2) a computer program for executing a method for plausibility-verifying a position of a controlled valve in a recirculation duct at a compressor in an air system of an internal combustion engine.
