Abstract A device includes an equipment for metering a reducing agent in the exhaust system (2) with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst (10) for selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas. The metering process is preformed by using reducing agent or by decomposing reducing agent. Surfaces are provided with a catalytically active coating. The surfaces are vulnerable for deposition of a reducing agent or its decomposition products or derivatives.
