Abstract The method involves determining a parameter corresponding to a maximum instantaneous performance from ambient variables of a vehicle and/or state variables of a vehicle drive by a control device (1) e.g. control area network (CAN) bus. The parameter corresponding to the maximum instantaneous performance of the vehicle drive is displayed by a display device (3) e.g. head-up display, and the maximum instantaneous performance of the vehicle drive is assigned to a performance region that is displayed as the parameter corresponding to the performance of the vehicle drive. An independent claim is also included for a control device for determining instantaneous performance of a vehicle. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Information eines Fahrers eines Fahrzeugs über die momentane maximale Leistungsfähigkeit des Fahrzeugantriebs, wobei eine der momentanen maximalen Leistungsfähigkeit entsprechende Größe auf Umgebungsgrößen des Fahrzeugs und/oder Zustandsgrößen des Antriebs ermittelt wird und wobei die der momentanen maximalen Leistungsfähigkeit des Fahrzeugantriebs entsprechende Größe angezeigt wird.
