The tailgate has an upper leaf (6) arranged such that it is swivellable upwards for opening the tailgate. A lower leaf (8) is turned down in a horizontal position and is arranged in a sliding manner in the area below a loading area. The lower leaf is locked in the horizontal position for extension of the loading area. The upper leaf is swivelable in a position above a roof of an automobile. A roof railing is provided for guiding the upper leaf. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Hecktür eines Kraftwagens, die horizontal in zwei Teilflügel unterteilt ist, wobei zum Öffnen der Hecktür ein oberer Flügel nach oben schwenkbar angeordnet ist. Ein weiterer, unterer Flügel ist zunächst in eine horizontale Lage umklappbar und im Bereich unterhalb eines Ladebodens einschiebbar angeordnet. Die Erfindung zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass der untere Flügel (8) in einer horizontalen Lage (10) zur Verlängerung des Ladebodens (12) arretierbar ist.
