The drive has a rotary electrical machine (8) whose rotor (10) is coupled to a gas exchange valve (1) of the internal combustion engine. The axis of rotation (11) of the electrical machine is inclined with respect to the valve lift direction (12) so that a rotary motion of the electrical machine is converted into a lifting motion of the valve. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (i) Combustion engine with gas shuttle valves and at least an electrical valve impulse after one of the other claims. Die Erfindung betrifft einen elektrischen Ventiltrieb für einen Verbrennungsmotor, mit einer rotatorischen elektrischen Maschine (8), deren Rotor (10) mit einem Gaswechselventil (1) des Verbrennungsmotors (31) gekoppelt ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Rotationsachse (11) der elektrischen Maschine (8) schräg zur Hubrichtung (12) des Ventils (1) verläuft, so daß eine Drehbewegung der elektrischen Maschine (8) in eine Hubbewegung des Ventils (1) umgesetzt wird. Die Erfindung betrifft auch einen Verbrennungsmotor mit Gaswechselventilen und wenigstens einem derartigen elektrischen Ventiltrieb.
